What is Oracle/Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management?

Oracle/Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management (FDM as affectionately known) is an out-of-the-box Data Transformation Tool that feeds source-level financial data to consolidation, reporting, planning, and analytical applications. More than just a data translation tool, FDM provides an audit trail to the source financial data, helping to ensure data integrity and mapping consistency that allows for easy reconciliation of financial data. Providing an audit trail to the source financial data saves end-users, administrators, and auditor’s time associated with data error investigation, identification, and correction. 

FDM offers a consistent, end user-friendly environment that provides a uniform data collection process for all reporting units within the organization. Hyperion FDM also contains financial controls functionality to assist corporations with their internal financial controls process.

    OK, thanks! Now I understand. In our present set-up we don’t allow data load to the parent location. In order to make this work I have to make one of the load locations the parent, then it will be their responsibilty to force the calculation to other sites. Not sure this is quite what we want, as only ACCOUNTS, ICP and C3 are common. Entity, C1 and C2 maps, whilst all held together, are pretty much under local control. We only want to force re-validation when one of the common dimensions change.

      Ah….a bit more info there. It sounds like you don’t actually leverage a Parent location to share maps. I say that because when you assign a parent, all dimensions (including Entity, C1 & C2) are also inherited by the child location. If I understand your needs correctly, what you want to do is a custom solution but is achievable.     Hi Tony,

    Using FDM to load data to Oracle Financial Management. A number of locations share maps from a common parent. Is there anyway one can force calculate all child locations of a parent map?

      This is actually quite easy to achieve. If you select the parent location in your point-of-view and then select Process Logic/Maps, you will get a prompt to calculate children. Select Yes/OK and the new maps are applied to all of the locations to which that parent is assigned.

        Wow! quick reply, thanks. Only problem is I don’t see that calculate children prompt :(

        Is that a new feature? Currently running Version

        The functionality has been around since at least the System 9 versions. The parent location needs to have data in order for this to work. Sorry I wasn’t clear about that before.
